Divvy It Up

Tap a section in the song viewer & boom—it's selected. These settings control how that selection looks & acts like. Spoiler: it's more complicated than it needs to be.

Gimme That Color

Wanna change the section selector's color? Tap the row & use the Color Picker Thingy. Go wild—create a custom color or pick from our fancy semi-transparent palette: Transparent, Red, Orange, Green, Blue, Purple, Pink, Grey, or Teal. (Default, aka "we picked it for you because you probably can't").

How the Selection Looks

The selection style can actually make it NOT suck to see which section you picked. Pick one of these bad boys:

  • Nope turns off any visual hint that you selected something. You're on your own, buddy.
  • Bar puts a skinny line on the left side. How thick? Same thickness as your vertical position thingy. Riveting.
  • Page highlights the whole dang section across the entire page like a ruler. Very dramatic.
  • Section draws a rectangle around it with slightly rounded corners. Fancy & technically correct.

How Thicc Is Your Selection?

When you're using the bar style, you can control how thicc that bar gets. Default copies the width from the vertical position indicator. Other options: hairline, thin, medium, thick, thicker & thickest. We're not making this up.

Should Sections Even Get Selected Tho?

Section selection can hijack your taps. OnSong auto-decides if a section should wake up. Options:

  • Never means sections stay asleep forever. Good luck.
  • Automatic wakes up sections if MIDI or scenes are assigned, lyrics projection is on, or you're streaming to other peeps via OnSong Connect or OnCue. (Default, aka "the smart choice").
  • Always selects everything. Go big or go home, right?

Where Should Selected Stuff Go?

When you tap a section, it scrolls into view. This setting controls where it shows up on your screen. The song viewer will get as close as it can without breaking things.

  • Top plops it at the top of what you can see.
  • Middle puts it dead center. (default, because we love balance).
  • Bottom shoves it to the bottom.

Auto-Scroll to Selected Section

Tap a section → it gets selected → MIDI fires → scenes change → lyrics appear. Turn this on & it'll ALSO scroll the section into view so you don't have to squint. Default is on because we're nice like that.

Don't Let Content Hide Under the Menubar (Or Do, We Can't Stop You)

In OnSong, the menubar & statusbar float on top like they own the place. Smooth for full-screen mode & all. But when selecting sections, content can hide under there like it's playing peek-a-boo. Pick how you want it to behave:

  • Never keeps content above the menubar always & forever. Boring but safe.
  • Automatic keeps stuff visible if the menubar is showing & fully opaque. Semi-transparent? Content flows under like water. (default, because physics).
  • Always lets content go wherever it wants under the menubar. Anarchy.

Note: If you're rockin' an iPhone, the Scroll Under Menubar setting also applies to that toolbar at the bottom. You're welcome.
